Delete your Photic account

If you still have the app

This is the fastest route and needs nobody's help.

• On the web: sign in, open Account settings, and choose Delete account.
• On iPhone or Android: open the Profile tab and choose Delete account.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Email [email protected] from the address your account uses, with the subject Delete my account. We will verify that the request came from the account holder before anything is deleted — which is why this cannot be a form that acts immediately.

What deletion removes

• Every photograph and RAW file, including originals
• Every dive, dive site, tag and species record
• Dive-computer logs and profiles
• Your profile, your email address, and your contact record with our email provider

What is kept, and why

• Anonymous accuracy statistics used to measure how well species suggestions perform. These are not linked to you and cannot be traced back to you.
• A record that an account was deleted and when — held so we can answer a support or audit question, and so that signing up again with the same address is not mistaken for your old account coming back.
• Copies inside encrypted backups, until those backups expire on their normal schedule. They cannot be restored to a live account.

How long it takes

Your account is locked immediately — it stops syncing and you are signed out everywhere. Everything is permanently destroyed 30 days later. Signing in during those 30 days cancels the deletion and restores your account exactly as it was.

If you subscribe through the App Store or Google Play, deleting your Photic account does not cancel that subscription — only the store can. Cancel it there to stop being billed.
